With Arvorum, you can create precise PGR maps to ensure that each zone of your field receives the optimum application rate of plant growth regulators. Prevent scorch from over application and keep your crops standing. Manage the PGR rate delivery to every zone within your field to maximize your crop output whilst ensuring you don’t waste or place inputs in the wrong zone.
Arvorum allows you to add up to three different plant growth regulators, which can be either liquid or solid. Follow the instructions in this article to learn how to create PGR maps.
How to begin
1. Log in to Arvorum and click on the field you want to create a Crop protection map for.
2. In the Maps section, click the + Add button and select Crop protection map.
Tip: You can also open the list of biomass maps and select one as a base for your crop protection map. To do so, click Show all, click 3 dots next to the map preview, and select Create Plant Growth Regulator map. |
Step 1: Select base maps
1. You can select up to 10 different maps that should serve as a base for a crop protection map. You can use biomass maps provided by Arvorum or upload your soil and yield maps.
Click + Biomass map, + Yield map, or + Soil map to open the lists of available maps. Then, click on the map preview to select it as a base map.
Tip: If you want to use only the most accurate biomass maps, you can turn on the Show clean images option. You will then see only those maps that have less than 5% of cloud coverage. |
2. By default, each base map contributes an equal amount of data to the crop protection map. However, you can adjust the proportion of data taken from each base map according to your preferences. Click Prioritise maps and follow on-screen instructions or go to the dedicated article.
3. Decide how many zones your PGR map should have.
Each zone will have a different amount of product applied to it, depending on the biomass vitality of that area. You can choose between 3, 5, 7, and 9 zones. The map preview changes depending on the number of zones, so you can immediately see the difference.
4. Click the toggle to create an additional headland zone - the strip of land around your field used for machine turning. Then, enter the Widht in the input window. You will see the headland (light green) on the map preview.
5. You can also edit the tramlines orientation. To do so, click the Change Tramlines orientation toggle and set the orientation by moving the green circle on the map or entering the degrees.
6. Before adding product information, you must set the minimum crop vitality. For example, if you set up min. value on 60%, all field parts with lower vitality will be marked by grey color, and no product will be applied to them.
Click the Next: Add product info button to proceed.
Step 2: Products
You can add up to three different PGR products, which can be either liquid or solid. Arvorum enables tank-mixing procedures that can enhance the activity of products and reduce the cost of application. The application rates for your second and third products are defined by entering an average rate. Then the system uses the ratio from Product 1 to calculate the rest.
1. Start by defining water volume. The amount is reflected in litres per hectare.
2. Scroll down and fill in the information concerning the first product you will use. You need to define:

- Product name
- Product type: liquid or solid (rate unit changes automatically)
- Target product rate per hectare (either kg/h or L/h depending on the product type you have selected)
- Minimum and maximum products rates
Additionally, you can add product prices to keep track of the cost and expenses
3. To add second and third products, click on the +Add PGR Product button at the top of the window. Fill in the information using instructions from the previous point. In the rates section, you only define the target rate - minimum and maximum rates are calculated automatically based on the proportion you have chosen for the first product.
4. At the bottom of the window, you see the total amount of the products to be used on your field. Click on the Total Cost to check on your expenses.
5. To proceed, click the Next: Adjust parameters button at the bottom of the window.
Step 3 - Adjustments
1. Choose the machinery you will use on the field. Click on the Choose PGR machinery button and select it from the list or add a new one.
2. Once you select machinery, you can adjust the amount of product you will use in each zone of your field. You can review the amounts, leave them as calculated based on chosen maps, or regulate the amounts manually. To adjust the values, use the sliders. You will see the changes in numbers below.
Tip: You can use the Repaint areas option to change the PGR map zones, headland shape or add excluded areas where no PGR products should be applied. For example, if there is a tree or pond on your field and you forgot to exclude it while creating a field, you can repaint the spot so it will be omitted. To easily spot any objects, use the Split screen mode. |
3. Next, click the button Save PGR map. Enter the map name and click Save.
All done! Now you see the summary of map parameters. You can export the map to your terminal or as a .pdf file. To display more information, click the Details button. If you want to apply changes to your map, click Edit.
To add the application date, click the button Add application. You can add several dates. They will be displayed in the map details view.
You can also copy the application strategy and use it on other fields.
